Color Options

First, let’s talk about the bike’s colors. The Yamaha XSR155 is available in India in four stunning color options: Metallic Gray, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic, and Metallic Blue. All of these colors are extremely attractive and will appeal to everyone, from young riders to experienced riders. In our opinion, the Metallic Blue shade stands out as it gives the bike a look similar to Yamaha’s larger XSR900, especially with its blue-colored inverted forks. On the other hand, the international-spec XSR155 is available in only three colors: Metallic Brown, Metallic Black, and Matte Silver. The brown shade looks a bit sophisticated, while the other two colors are more simple.

Features

In terms of features, the Indian Yamaha XSR155 appears to be significantly ahead of the international version. The biggest difference is in the indicators. The Indian model features modern LED indicators, while the bike sold abroad features older-style bulb-type indicators that are slightly thicker. Both bikes feature LCD consoles, but the Indian version’s console supports smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect application. This allows you to receive SMS and call alerts, basic ride analytics, and last parked location information. This feature is not available on the international-spec bike, meaning Indian riders benefit more from the technology.

Design and Performance

The Yamaha XSR155 available in India features the same alloy wheels as the R15 and MT-15. The design is clean and fits perfectly with the bike’s minimalist look. Furthermore, the bike is shod with road-biased tires – MRF Zappers in the front and Revz-S tires in the rear – which are ideal for normal roads. The alloy wheels on the international-spec XSR155 have a different design. While this design is also quite attractive, the biggest difference lies in the tires. The international version features block-pattern tires. These tires do give the bike a slightly rugged character, but in our opinion, they don’t completely match the bike’s retro theme. However, these tires could certainly perform better on mildly rough terrain.

Accessories and Customization

Two customization kits are also offered with the Yamaha XSR155 in India: the Cafe Racer Kit and the Scrambler Kit. These kits allow buyers to completely change the look of their bike at a low cost. Additionally, Yamaha India is offering several accessories for the XSR155, including crash guards, radiator guards, adjustable levers, and phone mounts. It also comes with a saree guard as per Indian regulations. In contrast, no custom kits are offered with the international-spec bike, and the list of accessories is quite limited. These include accessories like a flyscreen, rear number plate holder, and skid plates.

Price and Final Verdict

The Yamaha XSR155 starts at ₹149,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi) in India. In contrast, in markets like Indonesia, its price is around ₹202,000. Clearly, this bike is available at a lower price in India. Overall, the Indian Yamaha XSR155 proves to be a great package, offering brighter color options, more features, and excellent customization options. Yamaha has spared no expense for the Indian market, providing riders with the perfect retro bike. If you’re planning to purchase this bike, you should feel free to buy it, as you’re getting better features than the international version at a lower price.
