The most interesting thing is that this SUV will come with strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, but there will be no diesel engine option. Its price could start between Rs 18 to 20 lakh and it will compete with tough rivals like the Mahindra Scorpio N.

Mahindra Thar EV
Yes, now you will also get the Thar in an electric version. Mahindra has already showcased the Thar.e concept and is now working on its production version. This EV will be built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform and may also get two battery pack options and an all-wheel drive system with a dual-motor configuration. This will be perfect for Thar enthusiasts who are moving towards electric vehicles.

Mahindra Vision S
Another excellent SUV from Mahindra is the Vision S. It was unveiled in India on August 15, 2025, and it looks like a smaller version of Mahindra’s most popular SUV, the Scorpio. Recently, pictures of its production-ready model undergoing testing have surfaced, which also show a panoramic sunroof. It will also be built on the NU_IQ platform and will be Mahindra’s second car in the compact SUV segment after the XUV 3XO.

Hyundai 7-Seater Hybrid SUV
Hyundai is also soon launching a new 7-seater hybrid SUV in India. It is codenamed Ni1i and is expected to launch by mid-2027. This SUV will now be manufactured at the Talegaon plant in Maharashtra instead of Hyderabad. It will be longer than the Tucson and may get a hybrid version of the 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This will be the second 7-seater SUV in Hyundai’s portfolio after the Alcazar.

Honda 0 Alpha EV
Honda is also going to expand its electric car lineup in India. The company unveiled the Honda 0 Alpha SUV for India at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. Production of this all-electric SUV will begin by the end of 2026 at the Tapukara facility in Rajasthan. It will directly compete with electric SUVs like the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, and Maruti e-Vitara.

Renault Duster
There’s great news for Renault Duster fans. Renault has confirmed that the new-generation Duster is returning to India on January 26, 2026. The French automaker had discontinued this SUV in 2022. The new Duster will get a 1.3L turbocharged HR13 petrol engine that generates 156 bhp of power. It will be available with both manual and CVT gearbox options.

Nissan Tekton
Nissan’s new C-segment SUV, the Tekton, is also expected to launch in India by mid-2026. In Greek, Tekton means architect or craftsman. Its styling is inspired by the Tekton concept and it will feature connected LED headlights and LED tail-lamp clusters. It is based on the same platform as the upcoming 2026 Renault Duster and is therefore expected to get the same engine. It will be locally developed at the Chennai facility.

Tata Sierra
News of the return of a legendary SUV like the Tata Sierra has excited everyone. It will be launched in India on November 25th. It was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo and will compete with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos. It is expected to feature amenities such as a triple-screen setup, Level 2 ADAS, and ventilated seats.

Volkswagen Tayron
Volkswagen’s 7-seater SUV, the Tayron, was spotted undisguised in India in May of this year. Although it couldn’t be launched during the Diwali season, it is expected to arrive in the market in the coming weeks. It will be locally assembled at VW’s Aurangabad facility and will offer strong competition to SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and Toyota Fortuner.

New-Gen Kia Seltos
The new generation of the Kia Seltos could debut in India by mid-2026. Test mule images of the new Seltos have already gone viral several times. The new Seltos will see significant changes in both its styling and cabin. According to media reports, the new Seltos could also bring hybrid technology to the brand.
