Tata Motors is all set to launch its iconic SUV, the Sierra, in a completely new and modern avatar! This new Sierra, scheduled to hit the market on November 25, 2025, will be reminiscent of the 1991 Sierra, but will be next-generation in terms of technology and features. Positioned between the Curvv and Harrier in Tata’s portfolio, this SUV could disrupt the mid-size segment. Learn about the expected price, design, interior, and safety details of this powerful SUV.

Expected Price

The expected price of the new Tata Sierra 2025 will place it between the premium and affordable segments. The ex-showroom price is expected to start at ₹18-20 lakh, while the top variant could go up to ₹25 lakh. ICE (petrol/diesel) variants are expected to be priced in the ₹20-25 lakh range, while the electric (EV) variants are expected to be priced between ₹25-30 lakh. This pricing will position it strongly between the Curvv and the Harrier.

Design That’s Both Retro and Modern

The new Sierra’s design is based on a ‘retro-cool’ theme, offering a striking blend of the older model’s ruggedness and modernity. It features a high hood, squared-off wheel arches, and strong rear haunches. At the front, split LED headlamps, a full-width LED DRL bar, a gloss-black grille, and a silver skid plate give it a highly rugged look. The sides feature flush door handles, thick cladding, a strong shoulder line, and roof rails. At the rear, connected LED taillamps, a flat tailgate, and a large roof spoiler add a sporty feel. The most striking feature is the quarter-glass panel, reminiscent of the old Sierra, which makes it unique.

Interior

The Sierra’s cabin will be premium and technology-rich, featuring a 5-seater layout. An all-black theme combined with dual-tone finishes, soft-touch materials, and ambient lighting creates a luxurious experience. It features a unique three-screen setup: a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a central infotainment touchscreen, and a passenger display. All three are integrated under a single glass panel. A gloss-black steering wheel features an illuminated Tata logo and a minimalist center console with touch-based controls.

Potential Features and Driving Comfort

The list of features is extensive, enhancing comfort and connectivity. A panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, and a premium sound system are expected. Connected car technology will include wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, and push-button start. Drive modes will support off-road adventures, while a passenger entertainment display will make long drives enjoyable.

Safety

Tata has not compromised on safety. The Sierra will feature Tata’s 5-star Global NCAP-rated build quality. Six to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and, most importantly, Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) will be standard. An ADAS module integrated into the front bumper will help prevent crashes.

Powertrain and Performance

The Sierra will be available in three powertrains: petrol, diesel, and electric. ICE variants may include a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine (170 PS, 280 Nm) and a 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine (168 bhp, 350 Nm). These will be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT/6-speed AT transmission. A 1.5-liter diesel variant (118 PS, 260 Nm) is also expected. The EV variant will be based on the Acti.EV platform, with dual motors expected to offer an AWD layout, a 69 kWh battery, and a range of 420-500 km.
