The Mahindra Bolero Neo has always held a strong and unique position in the Indian automobile market. This vehicle has never been known for its flashy looks or luxurious features, but it has provided customers with the strength, simplicity, and unwavering cross-country ability that modern city cars are gradually losing.
Now, Mahindra is going to give this rugged vehicle a powerful and new avatar that will not only become a favorite in rural areas but will also win over new-age customers seeking lifestyle SUVs.
M_GLYDE Platform

The current Bolero Neo is still based on the outdated ladder-on-frame technology, which provides strength but feels quite dated in today’s times. Mahindra has built the Thar Roxx on the all-new M_GLYDE platform. This new platform is known for its excellent ride comfort, tremendous strength, and exceptional safety.
When the new Bolero Neo moves to this platform, its direct benefit will be improved NVH levels. This means that engine noise and external noise inside the cabin will be virtually negligible, making your journey quieter and more comfortable than ever before. Furthermore, this modern architecture will also make the vehicle safer and stronger in crash tests.
Design and Size
While this new-generation SUV will be more modern than before, that doesn’t mean it will become a mere urban crossover. Mahindra will fully retain its rugged and powerful look. The front and overall appearance of the vehicle reflect the bold design language of the Thar Rock and Scorpio-N, giving it a commanding road presence.
The biggest transformation will be seen in its size. Due to the use of the Thar Rock’s underpinnings, the new SUV will be significantly larger in length and width than the current model. This increased size will directly benefit the cabin, providing greater seating and luggage space.
Premium Interior
The Bolero Neo’s interior is often considered outdated. Mahindra is fully addressing this issue with the new generation. While it won’t be as feature-laden as the Thar Rock to keep the price within budget, it will still offer all the necessary premium features.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a completely new dashboard and premium materials. To enhance your ride, it will include modern features like a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a fully digital instrument cluster, and automatic AC.
Thanks to this new platform, the car’s ride quality will be so excellent that you won’t feel any jolts even on long highway journeys.
Powerful Engine and 4×4 Power

The current model comes with a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which helps save tax for a sub-4 meter vehicle and generates 100 bhp. However, if Mahindra expands its size, its engine will also be upgraded.
In this case, the company could equip it with its most reliable and powerful 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine, which also powers the Scorpio and Thar Rock. This engine will offer around 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.
To transmit power to the wheels, the vehicle could feature a rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup as standard, meaning the rear wheels will receive power. Additionally, for off-road enthusiasts, select top-end variants could also offer the option of proper 4×4 (four-by-four) hardware, making it a true conqueror of all kinds of rough and rocky terrain.
Launch Timeline and Pricing
Although Mahindra has yet to officially confirm the development of the new-generation Bolero Neo, auto experts believe the company is rapidly progressing on it. This luxurious lifestyle SUV could be launched in the Indian market by the end of 2027. As for pricing, given its modern platform and new features, it is expected to be priced between ₹12 lakh and ₹16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
