Toyota Land Cruiser FJ
Toyota has introduced the FJ as a compact, but hardcore off-roader at Land Cruiser Family. This SUV is built on Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame platform. The same platform is also the basis of India favorite models like Fortuner and Hilux. This simply means that the FJ can easily withstand both India’s road and off-road conditions.
The length of the SUV is 4,575 mm, width 1,855 mm and height 1,960 mm, i.e. it forms a perfect mid-size off-roader. The wheelbase of 2,580 mm makes it agile, it is more maneuverable than the Fortuner or larger Land Cruiser 250. Its turning radius is about 5.5 meters, giving it a spectacular performance in both city traffic and off-road trails.

Engine and Performance
Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be given 2.7L 2TR-FE petrol engine, which is Toyota’s proven and reliable mill for years. This engine gives a power of about 163 PS and 246 Nm torque. Instead of Turbo engines, Toyota has focused on durability and long-term reliability, something similar to what Toyota buyers always appreciate.
With a 6-speed Super ECT automatic gearbox it will give engine smooth performance. The FJ will be offered with 4WD capability, which means that this SUV will be ready not just for the lifestyle look, but also for real off-roading. It is expected that the India-spec model will also come with the same powertrain, leaving both maintenance and reliability aspects strong.
Design
Speaking of Design, Land Cruiser FJ makes its own identity. Its boxy profile is immediately reminiscent of the iconic FJ40. Upright stance, circular elements and squared body panels together give it a strong character of a bold and old-fashioned SUV. Considering the practicality it is designed with removable bumpers, visible mounting points and heavy-duty cladding, making it fully capable not just in appearance but also in real off-road conditions. For those who like Adventure, it feels like a compact but powerful dream SUV.
The same rugged and practical philosophy continues inside the cabin. Interior is designed with simple, functional and wipe-clean materials so that it is easy to maintain even in rough use. Toyota has deliberately kept the luxury features low, so that FJ can maintain its true motive, a focused, reliable and no-nonsense off-road machine.

Launch
Toyota has not currently confirmed India launch infinitely, but many strong indications are in its favour. The demand for SUVs in India, especially lifestyle off-roaders, is growing rapidly. Toyota has already localized in IMV platform India, this will make both production and pricing easier.

Brand’s aggressive expansion strategy also indicates that FJ future may contain strong candidate for India. Its sales in Japan will begin by mid-2026, and it is estimated that in India it may take entry around 2027–2028. If Toyota launches it with local assembly, it could become a great rugged SUV option for a lower price than Fortuner, which will definitely attract buyers.
