4 New SUVs Set to Shake Up India’s Mid-Size Segment in 2025–26 — Check Launch Dates, Prices & Features

The midsize SUV segment in the Indian auto market is experiencing a major upheaval, with vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara ruling the roost. But now, three powerful new SUVs are set to launch in 2025-2026 that could take this segment by storm. If you’re looking forward to the launch of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, the return of the new-gen Renault Duster, or the modernized incarnation of the new Tata Sierra, here’s a complete breakdown of these upcoming SUVs’ power-packed features, impressive range, and expected prices.

Mid-size SUV Segment to Be a Shake

In the coming months, Indian customers will be treated to four all-new and powerful SUVs, featuring both electric and conventional fuel (ICE) options.

Mahindra XEV 9S

The Mahindra XEV 9S is touted as India’s first premium 7-seater electric SUV. It is a fully electric version of the XUV700 and is built on the INGLO platform. It will be unveiled at the ‘Scream Electric’ event in Bengaluru on November 27, 2025. This 4.8-meter-long SUV will come with a 59 kWh or 79 kWh battery, offering a range of 500-600 km.

It will feature exterior features like bold LED bars, flush-mounted handlebars, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it will feature triple 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, and a 16-speaker Harman sound system. It is expected to be priced between ₹2.1 lakh and ₹3 lakh (up to ₹4.5 lakh for the top variant).

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be the first electric vehicle from India’s most trusted manufacturer. It is being manufactured at Toyota’s Gujarat plant and will be exported to over 100 countries. It is expected to be launched on December 2, 2025, although some reports also suggest December 18. It will be offered with 49 kWh and 61 kWh batteries, with a range of up to 500 km.

It will produce 143-173 PS and will only be front-wheel drive. It will be equipped with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital cluster, a 360° camera, seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, and Suzuki Connect. Its boxy design, Matrix LEDs, and 18-inch wheels make it attractive. The price is expected to be between ₹17 lakh and ₹25 lakh.

New-Gen Renault Duster

The New-Generation Renault Duster is the third generation of this iconic SUV from the 90s. It will be launched in India on Republic Day (January 26, 2026) and is built on the CMF B+ platform. It will be offered with 1.0L and 1.3L turbo-petrol engines (154 PS) paired to a manual-auto gearbox, with a hybrid engine expected later.

With 217 mm of ground clearance, 4×4 options, and hill descent control, it could become the off-road king once again. It will feature a new V-shaped grille, Y-shaped LEDs, a triple-screen dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, and six airbags. It is expected to be priced between ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh.

Tata Sierra

The Tata Sierra is bringing back 90s nostalgia with a modern twist. The ICE version will launch on November 25, 2025, while the EV version will arrive in January 2026. It will initially be offered in petrol-diesel (1.5L NA/Turbo, 2.0L Diesel) options, followed by a 500+ km range powertrain similar to the Harrier EV.

It is expected to feature a retro silhouette, wraparound glass, a flat roof, a triple-screen display, a panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS, seven airbags, and 5-star NCAP certification. The ICE version is expected to start at ₹12 lakh to ₹21 lakh, and the EV version at ₹18 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
