ATM in Train: Indian Railways to Install ATMs Inside Coaches for Hassle-Free Cash Access

Train ATM: Good news for train passengers. Passengers will now be able to withdraw money even while on a moving train. Passengers will no longer face any cash problems, as ATMs will be installed on trains. This has been initiated. The “ATM on Wheels” facility has been introduced on Maharashtra’s Manmad-CSMT Panchavati Express.

This initiative has been taken with the aim of providing cash facility to passengers on running trains and increasing the non-fare revenue of the Railways. This has been implemented on a pilot basis in the said train. This facility will also be extended to other long-distance trains running through this section, including the Vikramshila Express, LTT Express, Ang Express, and Amarnath Express.

The ATM-on-Wheels initiative aims to provide passengers with on-board cash and increase non-fare revenue for the railways. This initiative marks a revolutionary step towards Digital India. This ATM has been installed by converting the train’s mini-pantry.

It is protected from vibrations with rubber pads and bolts. Two fire extinguishers have also been installed to ensure safety standards are met. This step will provide significant relief to passengers in case they need cash during their journey.

According to railway officials, the railways are continuously working towards modernization and innovation, keeping in mind the vision of a developed India 2047. Modern stations, state-of-the-art trains, and new safety systems are hallmarks of this transformation.

Actually, station ticket counters have QR code systems, but train TTEs don’t have this system. This can sometimes create problems if someone is caught without a ticket on a moving train and doesn’t have the cash to pay the fine. With an ATM available, the fine can be paid by withdrawing cash.

Malda Division PRO Rasraj Maji said that the ATM-on-wheels facility has been introduced for the first time on a pilot basis on the Manmad-CSMT Panchavati Express . If the experiment is successful, it will be implemented on other trains as well.
