Train Cancelled : Every day, millions of passengers across the nation rely on rail services. Thousands of trains leave major cities like Delhi heading to various states. So, if you’re thinking about taking a train trip soon, this info is super important for you. Indian Railways has made the call to cancel several trains during January and February because of the expected heavy fog this winter.

This move by the Railways will hit hardest those passengers who travel daily or cover long distances. In particular, trains from Delhi through Saharanpur to Ambala, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir will see the most cancellations. Additionally, some trains on the Haridwar and Rishikesh routes have also been scrapped.

Why was this decision made?

Every winter, many areas in North India get blanketed in thick fog. This creates challenges for train operations due to poor visibility. Train speeds must be reduced, making it tough to stay on schedule. This not only compromises passenger safety but also disrupts the entire rail network’s timetable. With these factors in mind, the Railways has opted to temporarily cancel certain trains.

How long will the cancellations last?

As per the Railways, these train cancellations will be in effect from January through the end of February. Some train operations may be impacted until early March. Passengers are encouraged to verify their train status before heading out.
