Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has set a new record. He has completed 5,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this feat during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match. Gaikwad has become the second-fastest Indian player to reach 5,000 runs in 144 innings. He is ahead of only KL Rahul, who reached the milestone in 143 innings.

Ruturaj Gaikwad got another record

This historic moment came when Ruturaj Gaikwad, captaining Maharashtra, played a SMAT match against Jammu and Kashmir. However, his bat remained silent in this match and he was dismissed for just 6 runs. Despite this, he crossed the 5000-run mark in T20 cricket. With this achievement, he surpassed legends like Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 5000 runs in 144 innings. His average is 39.33 and his strike rate is 140.69. He has scored six centuries and 35 half-centuries in his T20 career so far.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in impressive form recently. Although he was dismissed early in this match, he had previously scored 210 runs in three innings, averaging 105, including a century and a half-century. His impressive performance has earned him a selection in the Indian team for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, which begins on November 30th.
