FASTag: There’s some great news for FASTag users. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the KYV (No Way Out Vehicle) process. Your FASTag service won’t be disabled even if your KYC isn’t complete. You simply need to upload a front photo of your vehicle. The system will automatically retrieve your vehicle’s registration certificate (RC) information from the Vahan database. If you encounter any problems, your bank will contact you and offer assistance.

Now all the work will be done with just one photo

Earlier, the FASTag service used to be stopped if the KYV was not completed, but now this will not happen. Indian Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL) has made many major changes under this new process. You will be given sufficient time to complete the KYV. Your service will not be stopped suddenly. Earlier, you had to upload many photos of the vehicle, but now this hassle is over.

Those driving cars, jeeps or vans will no longer have to provide a photo of the side of the vehicle. All that is required is a photo of the front of the vehicle, in which the FASTag and the vehicle’s number plate are clearly visible. If multiple vehicles are linked to the same mobile number, then you can easily select the vehicle for which you want to do KYV.

Know these important things too

Let us tell you that those who have Fastag before the KYV policy came into effect, their Fastag will continue to work as before. They may face problem only if the bank receives any complaint about misuse of their vehicle or loose tag. If your KYC is pending, you will also get an SMS alert from the issuing bank. If you are facing any problem in uploading the documents or completing the KYC yourself, then NHAI has directed the banks to come forward and help you. You can call the National Highway Helpline number 1033 and tell your complaints and know the correct process.

It’s worth noting that FASTag is a card that’s placed on a vehicle’s windscreen. It uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to automatically pay tolls. This eliminates the need to stop at toll plazas and pay cash. Using FASTag saves time at toll plazas, reduces traffic congestion, and reduces pollution. The new Know Your Vehicle rule is a welcome relief for FASTag users.
