How to activate your ATM card online?

Most banks let you activate your card by creating a PIN at an ATM. But many banks now also let you do it online. If your bank has this option, just follow these steps:

  • Go to your bank’s official internet banking site and log in with your user ID and password.
  • Once you’re logged in, look for the “Generate ATM PIN” option and click on it.
  • Next, enter your 16-digit ATM card number and the 3-digit CVV number found on the back of the card.
  • Submit that info, and you’ll get an OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Type in the OTP, and then you can set a 4-digit ATM PIN that you want.
  • After you set the PIN, your card will be activated, and you can start using it at ATMs or stores.
  • Some banks even let you set your ATM PIN through their mobile apps.

Generating 3D Secure PIN for online transactions

An ATM PIN is sufficient for offline transactions or ATM withdrawals, but for online payments, you need a 3D Secure PIN. Follow these steps to set it up:

  1. When you make an online purchase on any website, select “Debit Card” as the payment mode and enter your card details.
  2. If this is your first time making an online payment, you will automatically be redirected to the 3D
  3. Secure registration page.
  4. Here you can proceed either by entering the ATM PIN or through the OTP received on your mobile.
  5. You will now be asked to create a 6-digit 3D Secure PIN.
  6. Enter the PIN, confirm by typing it again.
  7. Now your card is ready for online transactions also.
  8. Every time you make an online payment with your debit card, you will need to enter this 6-digit 3D Secure PIN.
