New Delhi: State Bank of India (SBI) has increased its ATM transaction charges, delivering a major blow to its customers. Customers will now have to pay higher fees for ATM transactions. SBI informed its customers that the increase in ATM transaction fees is due to a rise in interchange fees.

Previously, SBI had increased ATM transaction fees in February 2025. This means that transactions at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and Automated Deposit-cum-Withdrawal Machines have become more expensive due to the fee increase implemented by SBI.

New Fees Effective from December 1st

According to SBI, the increased fees have been in effect since December 1, 2025. This will impact savings and salary account holders who use ATMs of other banks. However, some specific categories of account holders will not be affected by this new decision. The bank clarified that there has been no change in the monthly free transaction limit.

How Much Will It Cost Now?

SBI savings account customers will be able to make only 5 financial and non-financial transactions free of charge per month at other banks’ ATMs. After exceeding the monthly free transaction limit, each cash withdrawal will now cost ₹23 instead of ₹21, plus applicable GST. Similarly, each non-financial transaction after the free limit will now cost ₹11 instead of ₹10, plus applicable GST.

No Change for These Customers

However, there is no change in the existing ATM transaction service charges for SBI debit cardholders using SBI ATMs. Cardless cash withdrawal transactions at SBI ATMs will remain unlimited and free until further notice.
