Railways Big Plan
Currently, approximately 400 trains operate daily from these three stations. The Railways is now working to increase this number to 500. This will increase train operating capacity by approximately 25 percent and provide passengers with more train options. Reduced congestion will make the travel experience more convenient.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently visited Varanasi. Following the launch of four new Vande Bharat Express trains, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspected the city’s railway stations. He reviewed the progress of construction work, passenger amenities, and station development.
Passengers to enjoy high-tech facilities
During the inspection, the Railway Minister directed officials to prioritize passenger convenience in station development. He said that facilities such as spacious waiting halls, escalators, elevators, food courts, high-tech information systems, parking, and multimodal integration should be ensured to provide a world-class experience to passengers.
Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar also visited the Varanasi Railway Station and held a meeting with officials. He reviewed the station’s redevelopment, platform expansion, and passenger amenities.
