Earthquake in Andaman and Nicobar: – An earthquake was felt in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Sunday afternoon. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the quake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale. However, according to the German Geological Research Centre, the earthquake measured 6.07 and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres. On the other hand, the National Centre for Seismology says the quake occurred at a depth of 90 kilometres. At present, no casualties have been reported yet. NCS informed on ‘X’ that the epicentre of the earthquake was at a depth of 90 kilometres.

Various international agencies have released varying figures regarding the earthquake’s magnitude. The German Research Centre for Geosciences measured the quake at 6.07, significantly higher than the NCS figure. According to the GFZ, the quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres (6 miles). Immediately after the quake, Malaysia clarified that there was no tsunami threat.
