The fifth T20 International between India and Australia in Brisbane was abandoned due to rain. This marked the end of the T20 series between the two teams. But still, India emerged as the winner of the series by 2-1, as they won in 2 matches while the home team managed to win on only one occasion. Following this, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was interviewed. He is a brilliant left-arm fast bowler and is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals. Now, a major reason behind his success has been revealed. In a viral video, he revealed that he honed his skills by watching Wasim Akram.
Wasim Akram is also Arshdeep Singh’s teacher
A video is going viral on social media in which Arshdeep Singh is being interviewed. He was asked about his bowling skills by watching videos of Wasim Akram. The Pakistani legend was one of the greatest left-arm bowlers of his time. In a way, he has been Arshdeep’s mentor. The Indian fast bowler said, “There’s nothing different about it. The left side is the shining side, and it’s a simple grip for bowling inswingers.”
Arshdeep continued, “I turn the ball towards first slip to bowl an outswinger. I turn it with my wrist. I saw a video of Wasim Akram teaching me how to turn the wrist. After that, I started bowling with a jerk. I haven’t fully grasped it yet and I’m still trying.”
Arshdeep Singh, “I’m still a medium pacer”. 🤣 pic.twitter.com/7QUFUVIIBW
