Let me tell you, Tata Motors is once again in the eyes of the automobile world of India, as the company’s next big SUV is spotted during Tata Sierra testing. The Sierra has once been a concept model, now appearing in a production-ready avatar. Design

On seeing the design of the new Tata Sierra, it seems that the company has brought back its old legend with a new and modern touch. The front of this SUV is quite upright and muscular, with sleek LED headlamps, full-width light bar and bold bumper. Where the closed grill panel and sleek bonnet give it a premium look in both Electric and ICE verses.

Engine

Tata Motors will launch Sierra in two versions, one with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and the other Electric Version (EV).

The new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be delivered in the ICE version, which will give around 168 PS power and 280 Nm torque. At the same time the diesel version will have the same 2.0-litre engine being used in Harrier and Safari, and will generate around 170 PS power and 350 Nm torque. For transmission, the company will offer both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic torque converter options.

Technology

Also, Tata’s EV technology will be seen in Sierra EV. It is expected that these SUVs will be based on the same platform as the Harrier EV and will have dual battery pack options.

The company has not yet cleared whether dual motor setup (AWD) will come, but its option can be given in higher trims. According to reports, its range will be more than 500 km and will support bi-directional charging.

Interior

Now talk about the biggest highlight, so its interior design. The cabin inside the new Tata Sierra seems to be both futuristic and premium. With a layered dashboard, it has three large display.

  • similar size passenger display screen.

In addition, the flat-bottom steering wheel is given illuminated Tata logo, which gives it a classy touch. Sierra will also feature premium features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, and auto-dimming IRVM. The SUV will be based on the same platform as the Harrier EV and will have dual battery pack options.

Launch

Tata Motors has not officially announced the launch date, but it is estimated that Sierra may hit the market in the next 3 to 4 months.

The company’s strategy is clear, after Harrier and Safari’s petrol version, Tata wants to compete veterans like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Hector in a straight mid-size SUV segment by launching Sierra.
