JSW’s first car will be a Fortuner-rivalling PHEV SUV – Set to Enter India in June

In the Indian automobile industry, new names are not just taking entry, but are directly challenging the big players. In this episode, JSW Group is now going to take a big step in the passenger vehicle segment. According to reports, JSW’s new company JSW Motors Limited will launch its first car in June 2026.

The special thing is that it will not be a common SUV, but rather a plug-in hybrid SUV (PHEV), which can be launched directly against the Toyota Fortuner. The price is expected to be around ₹45 lakhs, making it clear that JSW wants to start with the premium segment.

JSW Motors

JSW Group is already working in joint ventures with SAIC Motor, but now the company wants to create a separate identity through its independent passenger car brand. However, this freedom cannot be said to be completely indigenous, as JSW’s first SUV will be based on a Chinese brand.

Design

Talking about design, it would not be wrong to say that it is deliberately kept boxy and muscular by looking at the look of Jetour T2. Straight lines, wide stance and elevated body profile give it a solid road presence. This is why JSW can position it as a Fortuner-rivalling SUV in India.

Today when many SUVs are moving towards soft and coupe-style design, the T2 is reminiscent of old school off-roaders. This look can attract buyers who want to see strength and dominance in the SUV.

Launch

According to reports, this first SUV of JSW will launch in June 2026. If everything goes according to plan, by April 2026 the company can share the first official information about its features, variants and technical details.

The launch will not be just the start of a car for JSW, but may prove to be the first step to identify it in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
