Tata Sierra 2025: Tata Motors has finally launched its iconic SUV Tata Sierra in new production-ready form. After a long wait, its initial price is kept at ₹11.49 lakhs, for its entry-level Smart+ variants. This new model comes with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with 106hp given the manual gearbox.
The midsize SUV segment already has big names like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Tata Curvv. In such a situation, the question is where does Sierra stand against these popular SUVs in terms of its price. So let’s understand this in detail.

Price Comparison
The prices of base petrol options in midsize SUV segment are quite different. Citroen Basalt and Aircross are the cheapest SUVs, while MG Astor, Tata Curvv and Maruti Victoria also offer considerable affordable options. On the other hand, Creta and Seltos are cheaper than Sierra despite being market leaders. This makes the comparison particularly interesting for buyers.

- The initial price of Hyundai Creta is ₹10.73 lakhs, ie Sierra is ₹76,000 more expensive than this.
- The price of Maruti Victoria starts at ₹10.50 lakhs, which is ₹99,000 less than Sierra.
- Honda Elevate ₹meets 11 lakhs, which is ₹49,000 cheaper than Sierra.
- The base variants of Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun come with turbo-petrol engines, which give slimly premium performance, yet they cost less than Sierra.
- Citroen Basalt and Aircross prices are the most attractive starting at ₹7.95 lakhs and ₹8.29 lakhs and both become the most value-friendly SUVs in this comparison.
Engine
Naturally aspirated petrol engines with similar displacement are usually given in models such as Creta, Seltos, Victoria, Elevate and Grand Vitara. All these SUVs are known for smooth and reliable performance. Skoda Kushaq and Taigun, by contrast, come with smaller 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines, which offer better torque and punky driving experience.
Sierra’s 1.5-litre NA petrol engine performs 106hp generate, which is slightly lower output than other 1.5-litre engines of segment. Despite this, Tata has placed special emphasis on engine refinement, which it hopes to deliver smooth performance in city driving.

Features
Sierra Smart+ may be the most expensive base petrol variant, but Tata has packed it in a fairly premium way.

Its all-LED setup and disc brakes also give it a lot of premium feel. As such, if one prioritizes buyer safety and feature richness, the pricing of Sierra may seem justified.
