School Holiday: Schools in many states are on vacation during the festive season. This October, students and teachers in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar will be on vacation. While Karnataka has declared a holiday to assist with the caste survey, schools in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will be closed for the Diwali festival. Bihar will also observe holidays for Diwali and Chhath Puja.
Schools in Karnataka are on vacation
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that schools will be closed from October 8 to October 18, 2025, so that teachers engaged in the state’s Social and Educational Survey (commonly called the ‘Caste Survey’) can complete their work. The survey was initially scheduled to end on October 7, but has been delayed in several districts.
When is Diwali holiday in Rajasthan?
According to an announcement from the Education Department, schools in Rajasthan will be closed for Diwali holidays from October 13th to October 24th, 2025. This 12-day holiday, which began today, will give students and teachers a longer opportunity to celebrate the festival and spend time with their families.
Diwali holidays will begin later in Uttar Pradesh. Schools will be closed from October 20th to 23rd. Including the weekend of October 18th and 19th, students will have a total of five days off to celebrate Diwali with their families.Similarly, schools in Bihar will be closed starting October 20th , including the previous weekend. This extended holiday is for the Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations, allowing students to participate in these religious rituals and events. Other states are also likely to observe Diwali holidays around the same time.
