Here’s the process
If you want to change your surname after marriage, you’ll need to visit an Aadhaar service center. This isn’t available online. At the Aadhaar service center, the woman will need to obtain the Aadhaar Enrolment & Update Form, fill it out, and enter the new surname in the Name section. A supporting document, either a marriage certificate or a gazette notification, will be required.
Your application will then be accepted after document verification and biometric verification. You will then receive an Update Request Number (URN), which you can use to track your status online. A fee of ₹50 will be required for this process. Once updated, you can download your new Aadhaar card online from the UIDAI website.
Required documents
To change your surname in Aadhaar, certain documents are required that are considered valid by the UIDAI. First among these is a marriage certificate, which serves as official proof of marriage. If your name has been published in the gazette, the gazette notification is also a valid document. A Court Order or Name Change Affidavit is also accepted. Valid ID proof, such as a passport, PAN card, driver’s license, or voter ID, is required to prove your identity. All of these documents must be presented at the Aadhaar Service Center to ensure the name update process is completed without any hassle.
