Latest reports suggests about possibilities of Rohit and Virat

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have already retired from T20 Internationals. Both players announced their retirement from T20 Internationals after India’s World Cup victory in 2024. As a result, both players are only available for the ODI format. Now, Kohli and Rohit could be part of the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against Australia.

Rohit and Virat to play ODI vs Australia?

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the Indian squads for the ODI and T20I series on Saturday (October 4th). Kohli and Rohit are likely to be included in the ODI squad. India’s tour of Australia is scheduled for October-November, with the first three ODIs starting on October 19th. This will be followed by a five-match T20I series from October 29th to November 8th.Will Rohit Sharma remain the ODI captain?

The selection committee meeting will also discuss the ODI captaincy. Whether Rohit will be retained as the ODI captain remains to be seen. It is understood that the selectors are planning to speak directly with Rohit Sharma on this matter. Besides Rohit and Kohli, most of the players from the Champions Trophy-winning team are expected to be selected for the ODI series.

Another major question is whether Shreyas Iyer will return to the T20 squad. Since the selectors can select more than 15 players for the T20 series, Yashasvi Jaiswal, along with Shreyas Iyer, could also find a place in the T20 squad. Both players missed out on a spot in the Asia Cup squad. The selectors also have to decide whether to include Abhishek Sharma in the ODI squad.
