Asia Cup 2025- Political and social controversy is deepening over the India vs Pakistan match to be held on Sunday night in the Asia Cup. The opposition and the victim families have demanded a boycott of the match, raising questions on the death of 26 innocent civilians in the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor. At the same time, AIMIM chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi and his party have also raised questions.

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on the central government and said, “Is the life of our 26 citizens worth less than a few thousand crores? The Prime Minister had said that blood and water cannot flow together, talks and terrorism cannot go together. Then how much will the BCCI earn from a cricket match, 2000 crores, 3000 crores? Is money worth more than life?”

Owaisi also questioned the Chief Ministers of Assam and Uttar Pradesh whether they do not have the power to refuse to play matches against Pakistan? Congress leader Abhishek Dutt demanded the match be cancelled and said the decision was inconsistent with the government’s “no talk with terror” stance. AAP leaders burnt an effigy of Pakistan on Saturday. Former minister Saurabh Bharadwaj called for a boycott of clubs and restaurants that would broadcast the match live.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi appealed to the citizens not to watch the match. She said, “Don’t give preference to terrorism over cricket, stand with the 26 families of Pahalgam.” Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray also attacked Prime Minister Modi, saying, “How can war and cricket go together? He has made patriotism a business.” Let us tell you that this match was earlier scheduled to be held in India, but due to the increasing political tension between India and Pakistan, the tournament was moved to UAE. The match will start in Dubai at 8 pm on Sunday.
