Mahila Samriddhi Yojana: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is delivering the inaugural budget of her administration in the Delhi Assembly. During her address, she remarked, “Today marks a historic day for Delhi.” CM Gupta unveiled a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2025-26, reflecting a 31.5 percent increase compared to the previous year’s budget. She announced that residents of Delhi will now receive health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh.

Additionally, a provision of Rs 5100 crore has been allocated for the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana,’ which will provide financial assistance of Rs 2500 per month to every eligible woman in Delhi.

While presenting the budget, CM Gupta stated that Rs 1000 crore will be dedicated to enhancing road transport and infrastructure in Delhi, as well as improving connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR). To ensure women’s safety, she also announced the installation of 50,000 additional CCTV cameras. Furthermore, Atal canteens will be established at 100 locations, with a budget of Rs 100 crore earmarked for this initiative.
The benefits of the Mahila Samridhi Yojana will be available exclusively to women aged between 21 and 60 years. Eligible women must have been permanent residents of Delhi for a minimum of five years. This scheme primarily targets economically disadvantaged groups and women living below the poverty line, with priority given to holders of Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards. Women employed in government positions or those whose family members pay income tax will not qualify for this program. Through this initiative, the Delhi government will transfer Rs 2500 monthly to the bank accounts of eligible women, subject to certain conditions.
