Vivah Sahayata Yojana: The Madhya Pradesh Labour Department introduced the ‘Vivah Sahayata Yojana (Marriage Assistance Scheme)’ in 2018 to provide financial support to registered construction workers and their families during marriage-related occasions. The primary objective of this scheme is to reduce the financial burden associated with marriage expenses and offer economic assistance to workers who may find it difficult to manage such costs with their regular income.

Marriage is an important milestone in every family, but the expenses involved can create considerable financial pressure, particularly for families dependent on daily wages. Recognising these challenges, the Madhya Pradesh government introduced this initiative to provide financial assistance to eligible construction workers and help them manage marriage-related expenses more comfortably.

Who Can Benefit from the Vivah Sahayata Yojana?

The scheme provides marriage assistance to eligible registered construction workers in the following circumstances:

1. Marriage or Remarriage of a Registered Female Construction Worker

A registered female construction worker can receive financial assistance for her own marriage or remarriage, subject to the eligibility conditions and guidelines applicable under the scheme.

2. Marriage of Up to Two Daughters of a Registered Construction Worker

The scheme also extends financial assistance for the marriage of up to two daughters of an eligible registered construction worker. This provision aims to support families in meeting marriage-related expenses and reduce the financial pressure on parents.

Benefits

Under the scheme, the beneficiary will receive a total assistance of Rs 55,000.
This amount is divided into:
Rs 11,000/- as cash.
Rs 38,000/- worth of household goods.
Rs 6,000/- provided to the organizer of the mass marriage program (if applicable).

Objective of the Scheme

The main purpose of the Vivah Sahayata Yojana is to provide financial relief to economically vulnerable construction workers and their families. Through this initiative, the government aims to:

– Reduce the financial burden associated with marriage expenses.
– Provide economic assistance to registered construction workers.
– Support the marriage of eligible female workers and their daughters.
– Improve the financial security of construction-worker families.
– Ensure that eligible beneficiaries can access government assistance during important family occasions.

How to Access the Benefits?

Eligible construction workers should check the official guidelines issued by the Madhya Pradesh Labour Department or the concerned construction workers’ welfare board to understand the registration requirements, eligibility conditions, application process and necessary documents.

The amount of financial assistance, application deadlines and other conditions should be verified through the official scheme notification before applying.
