According to reports, Ford is preparing to make a comeback in India soon. But the company will not introduce some of its old cars in India again. According to the information, the company will not bring back Eco Sport, Figo and Aspire. The company had earlier introduced these hatchback, sedan and compact SUV segment vehicles in India. But now there has been a lot of change in the market, hence it has been decided not to reintroduce these old models.
What will be the focus?
According to reports, in the second innings of the company, the focus will be on certain types of vehicles only. According to the information, the company will focus only on vehicles with T-6 platform. On this platform, the company manufactures vehicles like Ford Everest and Ford Ranger. Therefore, it is expected that along with these vehicles, the company will also bring other ICE vehicles in the SUV and lifestyle pickup truck segments in India.
Focus will also be on EV and hybrid
Apart from the T6 platform for ICE vehicles, the company may also bring some electric and hybrid vehicles to India. The company sells vehicles like Mustang Mach E and F-150 in many countries. In such a situation, it is expected that some such vehicles can also be introduced in the Indian market.
Production may start by 2025
In its first innings, the company left India in 2021. After which Tata Motors bought the company’s Sanand plant. Vehicles like Ford Figo were produced in this plant itself. But as soon as the comeback strategy was prepared, the company canceled the idea of selling the plant in Tamil Nadu. In which the company used to produce SUVs like Endeavor and EcoSport. It is now expected that some of the vehicles to be introduced in India in late 2025 or early 2026 may be manufactured at the Tamil Nadu plant. During this period, the company may import some vehicles from foreign markets to return to India.
