Ration Card Update: Ration card holders in Bihar need to pay attention to an important deadline. Over 1.5 crore consumers have yet to finish their e-KYC process. The Food and Consumer Protection Department has announced that if this isn’t completed by March 31, those individuals will lose access to ration card services. This requirement is part of the National Food Security Act.
The department pointed out that despite multiple extensions, many people still haven’t linked their Aadhaar or completed their e-KYC. If this isn’t done by the end of March, there won’t be any more extensions. Consequently, names that aren’t linked to Aadhaar will be removed from the ration card list starting April 1.
In Bihar, more than 8.25 crore people rely on ration cards. The Ministry of Food and Public Distribution has made e-KYC a must for all cardholders under the National Food Security Act. Initially, KYC could be done at ration shops using POS machines, but due to some issues, the option for facial e-KYC was also introduced.
Despite these measures, over 1.5 crore cardholders still haven’t completed their e-KYC. The government emphasizes that eligible individuals need to finish this process to fully benefit from ration card services. Not doing so will mean losing access to these benefits.
The department has made it clear that there will be no further extensions after March 31. This means that anyone who doesn’t complete their e-KYC by that date will have their names taken off the ration card list starting April 1. The government is focused on ensuring that all eligible individuals receive the full benefits of their ration cards, but completing the e-KYC process is essential to make that happen.
This initiative highlights the necessity of linking ration cards with Aadhaar to keep receiving benefits under the National Food Security Act. Cardholders are encouraged to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible to prevent any interruptions in their services.
