Mumbai Indians added multiple players in their squad ahead of IPL 2026 season. One of them is Shardul Thakur. The franchise has high hopes around him. Ahead of the new campaign, the allrounder said multiple things through the video.
Indian fast bowler Shardul Thakur, who was traded from Lucknow Super Giants to Mumbai Indians for Rs 2 crore ahead of IPL 2026, says former captain Rohit Sharma had given him the permission to play freely.

Shardul, a 34-year-old pacer who played Test cricket on the England tour earlier this year, is hoping to relive the good old days at Mumbai Indians. Shardul, who reunited with Rohit, said, “We’ll find out more when we sit together. It’ll be a lot of fun.”
“He made me feel comfortable. He let me be open with him. He let me play freely. We became comfortable with each other, and he had a big role in that,” he said. Shardul’s journey with Mumbai Indians began as a support player and earned an IPL contract not long after that. He said his early dressing room experience had a positive impact on his career.
Shardul said, “I was fortunate to have dressing room experience early on. I was already comfortable around the senior players. The way I was treated during the Mumbai Indians camp, that small gesture from the Mumbai Indians, helped me a lot in my career.”

“I got to play practice matches. I bowled with the new ball, which took my morale and confidence to another level, and I was taking wickets,” he said.
