Yashasvi Jaiswal has created a major record. Jaiswal has broken the records of former Indian captains Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar. Jaiswal has become the fourth fastest batsman to score 2500 Test runs for India. Jaiswal completed 2500 Test runs in 53 innings. It should be noted that Azhar had scored 2500 runs in his Test career in 55 innings.
Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag holds the record for the fastest 2500 Test runs for India. Sehwag reached 2500 runs in his career after playing only 47 innings. Gautam Gambhir is second. Gambhir completed 2500 Test runs in 48 innings.

Tristan Stubbs missed his third Test century by just six runs, but his impressive 94 helped South Africa declare their second innings at 260 for five on Tuesday, setting India a daunting 549-run target for victory in the second and final Test. South Africa had scored 489 in their first innings, to which India could only manage 201 in reply. This gave South Africa a total lead of 548 runs.
Stubbs faced 180 balls and scored 94 runs, including nine fours and a six. He shared 101 runs for the fourth wicket with Tony de Giorgi (49) and 82 runs for the fifth wicket with Wiaan Mulder (35 not out). Ravindra Jadeja was the most successful bowler for India, taking four wickets for 62 runs. Washington Sundar took one wicket. India were 27 for 2 at the close of play on day four, still trailing South Africa by 522 runs.
Sachin Tendulkar scored 2500 runs in Tests in 56 innings, while Jaiswal achieved this feat in 53 innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to make a significant impact in the second innings, falling to Marco Jansen for 13. Jaiswal made 13 runs off 20 balls.
