It is said that all well when ends well. Team India was in a tough spot when South Africa won the second ODI and made the 3-match series 1-1 for a while. India conceal the tournament by 2-1 as they won the 3rd match with ease. But now, team India have to deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
ICC not happy with team India
The Indian cricket team won the ODI series against South Africa, but now it has suffered a major setback. In fact, the ICC has found it guilty of slow over rate and has punished it. The Indian cricket team has been punished for the second match of the ODI series. Team India lost this match held in Raipur. The team lost the match despite scoring 358 runs and in this match, it completed its overs late. As a result, the ICC has now fined Team India. 10 percent of Team India’s match fee has been deducted.
Fine on team India
Match referee Richie Richardson imposed this fine on Team India because, taking into account the time allowance, KL Rahul’s team was found guilty of bowling two overs short of the target. The Indian players and support staff were found guilty under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
According to ICC rules, if a player fails to bowl within the allotted time, they are fined five percent of their match fee for each over. Captain KL Rahul accepted the charge and the fine, and a hearing was not required.
The Indian cricket team will have to find a solution to the slow over rate, as it made the same mistake in the Ranchi ODI. Due to the slow over rate, the Indian team had to bring in an extra fielder in the final over. If this happens again in the T20 series, it could be costly. The first match of the T20 series between India and South Africa will be played in Cuttack. The series is a five-match series. In the last series, India defeated South Africa 3-1 in their home ground.
