Melbourne Renegades secured a four-wicket win against the Melbourne Stars in Match 22 of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025–26 . Chasing a target of 174, the Renegades relied on a match-defining innings from Josh Brown to overhaul the target with one ball to spare.
The first innings was bolstered by Hilton Cartwright and Tom Curran . Cartwright’s dynamic 28-run knock kept the scoreboard ticking, while Curran’s 38 off just 18 balls helped the Stars reach a safe 173/9. For the Renegades, Gurinder Sandhu starred with four wickets, while Callum Stowe and Hasan Khan kept the Stars in check with timely wickets.

Renegades were given a quick start by Brown, who dominated the powerplay with a series of elegant drives and powerful pull shots. Despite early setbacks, including the dismissals of Tim Seifert and Jake Fraser-McGurk , Brown held firm at one end.
Mohammad Rizwan played an ideal supporting role, rotating the strike and ensuring the target remained on track. Brown’s impressive 84 off 48 balls, which included nine fours and four sixes, laid the foundation for victory before he was dismissed in the final over. As the equation tightened, Will Sutherland hit two towering sixes in quick succession to reach the target at 177/6 in 19.5 overs.

The Stars bowlers struggled to consistently apply pressure on a batting-friendly surface. Harris Rauf and Peter Siddle took two wickets each but conceded runs at crucial moments, while Marcus Stoinis proved expensive in the final overs.
