There are reports that the upcoming trade between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings is going to create history this time. The reason behind this is the players from both these teams who are going to be traded. According to media report, Rajasthan Royals can trade Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to CSK in exchange for Sanju Samson.
Sanju Samson in, Ravindra Jadeja out?
Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, has been CSK’s biggest match-winner. Ravindra Jadeja, who spent 13 years with the Chennai Super Kings, has won the Player of the Match award in the yellow jersey, the most times, with 17.
Furthermore, if we look at Jadeja’s performance at Chepauk, CSK’s home ground, he has not only scored runs at a better average than Sanju Samson, but has also taken plenty of wickets with the ball in the yellow jersey. Ravindra Jadeja has taken 37 wickets in 55 T20 matches on the Chepauk pitch, considered a paradise for spinners. He has played 54 of these matches for CSK, taking 35 wickets. With the bat, he has scored 518 runs in 55 T20 matches at an average of 16.70.
A good deal for CSK?
Of course, this biggest trade deal ever between two IPL franchises hasn’t been officially sealed. But there’s no smoke without fire. So, if this trade deal is sealed, will it be a good fit for CSK?
With Sanju Samson’s arrival, Chennai’s batting will undoubtedly strengthen. They will also gain a captaincy option that could replace Dhoni in the future. However, with these positive points, it’s important to remember CSK’s home ground in the IPL and Sanju Samson’s T20 record there. Sanju Samson has played 11 T20 innings at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium so far, scoring just 134 runs at an average of 12.18 and a strike rate of 100.75. His best score was 31. This means his strike rate is neither good nor is he even remotely close to scoring a half-century.
Chennai Super Kings will have to play at least seven of their 14 group stage matches at Chepauk. So, will Samson’s performance help them progress in the league?
