After fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has refused to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026 matches to be held in India, citing security concerns. Bangladesh has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to move all its matches to a venue outside India.
According to the schedule, Bangladesh will play the West Indies on February 7th, Italy on February 9th, and England on February 14th at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The team will play its final group match against Nepal on February 17th at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The ICC now has three options to resolve this dispute. Time will play a key role in determining which approach the ICC will take. With just one month remaining until the start of the tournament, time constraints pose a significant challenge.

3 possible way ICC can take it Bangladesh refuse to travel in India during T20 World Cup
ICC should agree to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s proposal and shift the venue for all of Bangladesh’s group matches from India to Sri Lanka. This would maintain the 20-team format and limit the dispute to logistics.
In case the ICC refuses to change the venue and Bangladesh refuses to play its matches in India, the tournament will proceed as scheduled. Practically speaking, Bangladesh’s opponents, the West Indies, England, Nepal, and Italy, could simply be awarded two wins and two points each, and Bangladesh’s campaign would be virtually over.

Bangladesh withdraws from the T20 World Cup and refuses to play in the tournament. In such a scenario, the ICC will have to decide whether it can replace Bangladesh with another team in time, or whether all of Bangladesh’s matches should be considered forfeits. Replacement is the better option from a competitive fairness perspective, but it will become more difficult over time.
