New Delhi: US President Donald Trump appears to be alienating many friendly countries with his tariff policies. Amid growing global resentment over Trump’s tariff policies, China is now working to weaken the US diplomatically.
Strengthening its ties with close US allies like Canada and other European countries, China is now also trying to solidify its influence over the world’s Muslim nations. In this context, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), an organisation of 57 Muslim countries.
This meeting, which took place today, is being seen as a significant diplomatic move by China. During the meeting, Wang Yi stated that the OIC is the largest intergovernmental organisation in the Islamic world. He said that China has always attached strategic importance to its relations with Islamic countries and the OIC. He appreciated the OIC’s support for China on issues related to Xinjiang and the Taiwan question.
