Weather Update, May 28: North India is currently witnessing the severe onslaught of scorching heat. Due to this intense heat, the situation for residents in UP, Bihar, and Delhi has become extremely distressing. According to the latest bulletin from the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued regarding severe heatwave conditions expected across Central and Northwest India over the next 2–3 days. Furthermore, starting May 29, relief from the heatwave conditions is anticipated as maximum temperatures are expected to decline.

Conversely, in Eastern India, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over the next 2–3 days. An alert has also been issued for Northwest, Central, and Eastern India regarding strong winds blowing at speeds of up to 70 km/h between May 28 and May 30. The Meteorological Department forecasts that relief will begin to set in across Uttar Pradesh starting tomorrow. An alert has been issued for Western Uttar Pradesh regarding the possibility of rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms from May 28 to May 31.

Weather in Northeast India
– According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds is likely in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 27 and 28.
– Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Arunachal Pradesh on June 1 and 2, and in Assam and Meghalaya on May 28 and June 2.
– As per the Meteorological Department’s forecast, isolated heavy rainfall is also likely in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 28, as well as during the period from May 30 to June 2.

Weather in South Peninsular India
– Light to moderate rainfall is likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Interior Karnataka between May 27 and June 2.
– On May 28, strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms are likely in South Interior Karnataka.
– Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely in Kerala & Mahe on June 1 and 2, and in Lakshadweep on June 1 and 2.

Weather in Eastern India
– An alert has been issued for rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from May 27 to June 2, and in Sikkim from May 27 to May 29.
– An alert for light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, remains in effect for Bihar and Odisha from May 27 to May 31, and for Jharkhand from May 27 to June 1.

– In Bihar, strong gusty winds accompanied by thunderstorms are likely on May 28 and 29.
