: The weather pattern across the country is shifting once again. In its latest bulletin, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding severe heat and heavy rainfall across various states of the country. According to the department, a warning for rain and thunderstorms has been issued for 13 states—including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar—for May 26. During this period, strong winds gusting up to 85 kilometres per hour are also possible.

Furthermore, the Meteorological Department indicates that severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist in Central and Northwest India for the next 4 to 5 days. Additionally—with the exception of certain parts of Rajasthan—a decline in maximum temperatures and relief from heatwave conditions is anticipated starting May 29 in Central India, the adjoining Northern Peninsula, as well as Eastern and Northwest India. Currently, most parts of the country are experiencing scorching heat, leaving the public in a state of severe distress.

According to the Meteorological Department, alerts for heavy rainfall at isolated locations have been issued for Northeast India over the next 6 to 7 days, and for Kerala and Tamil Nadu over the next 2 to 3 days. Rain and Storm Warning for 13 States
According to the Meteorological Department, alerts regarding heavy rainfall have already been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Tripura.


According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Delhi on May 29. During this time, winds gusting at 60-70 kilometres per hour are possible; meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Delhi on May 26 is expected to reach up to 42 degrees Celsius.

Uttar Pradesh Weather
For Uttar Pradesh, a warning has been issued for moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds from May 26 to May 29. The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall in several districts, including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Gorakhpur.


An alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms has been issued for Bihar over the next two days. Alerts regarding intense rainfall have been issued for several districts in Bihar, including Gaya, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Bhojpur. During this period, winds may reach up to 60 kilometres per hour.


For May 26, an alert regarding severe heat and heatwaves has been issued for Punjab. Alerts for severe heat and heatwaves have been issued for several districts, including Barnala, Patiala, Mansa, Bathinda, Moga, and Jalandhar. However, a warning for light rainfall has been issued for Punjab starting May 28.


A heatwave warning has been issued for Rajasthan on May 26. Alerts have been issued for Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Bundi, Sikar, Udaipur, Karauli, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Churu, and Dholpur due to severe heat.

– In Madhya Pradesh, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is likely to occur at isolated places between May 29 and May 31.
– In Chhattisgarh, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is likely to occur at isolated places between May 26 and May 29.
– In Konkan and Goa (between May 26 and May 28), and in Central Maharashtra (on May 25, 27, and 28), light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places.
– Hailstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh on May 28 and 29; and in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on May 29. – Odisha may experience strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms on May 25 and 29.
– Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during May 29–31, and in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during May 25–27.
