A tense standoff persisted for a considerable time between the people and security forces at the scene of the incident. **Re-polling Underway in South 24 Parganas District**

During the re-polling process at 15 booths across two Assembly constituencies in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, 37 percent of the votes had been cast by 11:00 AM. Voting proceeded peacefully at 11 polling stations in the Magrahat West Assembly constituency and four stations in Diamond Harbour.

Acting on reports of electoral rigging, the Election Commission had ordered a re-poll for these seats. Officials stated that voting commenced at 7:00 AM and is scheduled to continue until 6:00 PM. According to election officials, voter turnout stood at 38.2 percent in Magrahat West and 35.92 percent in Diamond Harbour. An official remarked, “So far, the voting process has remained peaceful, and no incidents of violence or unrest have been reported in either of the two Assembly constituencies.”

A sufficient contingent of Central Forces has been deployed across both constituencies. “Webcasting is also underway, and we are monitoring the entire process.” Voting for these two Assembly seats took place on April 29.
