New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to give a big gift to Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, today. PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate three new metro routes in Kolkata on Thursday afternoon, after which the metro service will start from here. A large number of passengers will be able to take advantage of this. The  Yellow Line, Green Line (Sealdah-Esplanade), and Orange Line (Beleghata-Hemant Mukhopadhyay) have been included in it.

By the way, these metro routes were mainly the plan of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. But she is not going to attend this inauguration ceremony. All arrangements are also being made at the administrative level to make PM Modi’s program a success. Narendra Modi can make some more big announcements.

Mamata Banerjee has been the Railway Minister twice.

TMC chief and current CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has also been the Railway Minister twice. His tenure for the first time was from 13 October 1999 to 16 March 20,01, and the second time was from 22 May 2009 to 19 May 2011. His foresight and contribution to the development of railways gave a gift to the people by giving a new extension to the metro projects of Kolkata.

According to a senior official, these three metro lines were originally conceived by Mamata Banerjee when she was the Railway Minister. The official informed that the original alignment of the Yellow Line from Noapara to Jai Hind was from Noapara to Barasat via Biman Bandar.

This alignment was announced by Mamata Banerjee in the Railway Budget of 2009-2010. Not only this, Mamata Banerjee also changed the original alignment for the Sealdah-Esplanade section of the Green Line.

When will the elections be held in West Bengal?
