Congress reacted to the impeachment.
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, had launched a big attack on the Election Commission and the BJP government regarding the allegations of vote theft and revision of the voter list in Bihar. The Election Commission held a press conference on Sunday and termed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations as false and asked him to apologise to the country.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Syed Nasir Hussain has given a big statement. Syed Nasir Hussain has given a big reaction on the possibility of bringing an impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner. He said that there has been no discussion within the party on this subject yet, but if needed, Congress can bring an impeachment motion as per the rules.

What did the Chief Election Commissioner say
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that such false allegations will neither affect the Commission nor the voters. The Election Commission will continue to work fearlessly and impartially. Gyanesh Kumar said that the job of the Election Commission is to ensure equal opportunities for all voters without being influenced by those involved in politics.
Taking a tough stand on the opposition’s allegations regarding irregularities in the voter list, the Commission informed that so far 28,370 voters have filed their claims and objections. He further said that the time limit for this has been set from August 1 to September 1.
