Monsoon Update: Severe cold has begun to set in across several states. In some places, people are experiencing severe cold waves. Winter has already started to grip many parts of the country, including North, Central, and Northeast India. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in several states. The India Meteorological Department predicts that rain may continue for the next seven days.
The cold wave is being felt in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Jharkhand, among other areas. Minimum temperatures are also steadily dropping. The Meteorological Department predicts that cold wave conditions may be experienced in parts of Central Maharashtra and Western Madhya Pradesh on November 19th and 20th.
Regarding Delhi’s weather, fog is also wreaking havoc amid the increasing cold and air pollution. The Meteorological Department has warned of persistent fog since November 19th. However, no rain has been forecast yet. The minimum temperature in Delhi is 9.6 degrees Celsius, and the maximum is 26.4 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, a heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Tamil Nadu between November 19th and 24th. A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands between November 19th and 22nd.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that minimum temperatures in western and central India will remain unchanged over the next 24 hours.
A 2 to 4 degree Celsius increase is possible over the next four days. A 2-3 °C increase in minimum temperatures is expected across northwest and eastern India over the next 4 days.
Rainfall likely in South India
According to the IMD, areas of southern India may experience heavy rainfall in the coming days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely over Tamil Nadu between November 19th and 24th. Additionally, heavy to heavy rainfall is expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from November 19th to 22nd. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 21st.
Weather Conditions in Rajasthan
According to the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, Rajasthan has been dry over the past 24 hours. Last night, minimum temperatures in most areas ranged from 5 to 13 degrees Celsius, which is about 3–4 degrees below normal. The lowest temperature was recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur, Sikar.
