Heavy Rain Alert: Amidst the biting cold in North India, an alert has been issued due to the possibility of rain and thunderstorms. Several areas of North India are experiencing the effects of dense fog. Delhi-NCR woke up to a thick blanket of fog. Tuesday morning (February 3rd) in Delhi was also similar, with the capital city shrouded in dense fog. Extremely low visibility was recorded in many areas of Delhi-NCR.
The IMD (India Meteorological Department) has issued a fresh bulletin stating that heavy rain is expected over the next two days, February 3rd and 4th. Residents of several districts of Uttar Pradesh, along with Uttarakhand and Delhi-NCR, have been advised to remain vigilant. Let’s find out which states have been issued a rain alert.
IMD Issues Yellow Alert
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert. Due to extremely low visibility, people have been warned to drive cautiously in the fog. The maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR today will be between 19 and 20 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be between 7 and 8 degrees Celsius.

Rain Warning in These States
Several other states of the country will continue to experience the effects of fog. These include Punjab, Haryana, northern Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. A warning of very dense fog has been issued until February 4th and 5th. In Purvanchal, dense fog is expected in Gorakhpur, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Varanasi, and Azamgarh on February 3rd and 4th.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in 10 states of North and Central India. These include Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, eastern Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Rain in these states could further increase the cold.
Weather Forecast for Uttarakhand
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain and snowfall are expected in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Due to inclement weather, there is a risk of slippery conditions on hilly roads and a further drop in temperature.
Weather forecast for Uttar Pradesh:
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Etah, Mainpuri, and Firozabad over the next 24 to 48 hours.
