Indian Railways Launches Direct Train from Ramnagar to Dehradun, Boosting Connectivity

Indian Railways: Good news for railway passengers. The central government has given the green light for a new direct rail service connecting Ramnagar and Dehradun. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav officially notified Garhwal MP and BJP national media chief Anil Baluni about this approval through a letter.

This announcement has provided relief to thousands of travelers who previously had to cover a long distance or rely on buses and taxis to get between Ramnagar and Dehradun.

Baluni had raised this request back in January

The groundwork for this rail service was established when MP Anil Baluni met with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in January and advocated for a direct train between Ramnagar and Dehradun. Baluni emphasized that this route was not only essential for passengers but also vital for the region’s economic growth and tourism. Nearly four months later, the Railway Minister’s approval has made this demand a reality.

What advantages will this bring to passengers?

Ramnagar serves as the gateway to Corbett National Park, while Dehradun is the state capital. The absence of a direct rail service between these two cities has posed a significant challenge for travelers. With the introduction of this train, travel time will be shortened, costs will decrease, and most importantly, a comfortable and dependable option will be available. This service will also be highly beneficial for tourists visiting Corbett.

Uttarakhand has already been the recipient of several rail enhancements.

MP Baluni highlighted that this is not the first occasion the central government has provided Uttarakhand with rail services. Previously, the Naini Doon Express was inaugurated between Kathgodam and Dehradun, a train service was introduced from Kotdwar to New Delhi, and the Vande Bharat Express was launched between Dehradun and Lucknow. This indicates that the state’s rail network has been consistently growing over the past few years.

After receiving the Railway Minister’s letter, MP Baluni expressed his gratitude, saying that the central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , has always been positive and sensitive to the needs of the people of Uttarakhand. He said that this rail service will not only connect two cities but will also accelerate the social and economic development of the entire region.

The date and schedule for the train service are yet to be announced, but once approved, it is expected to officially launch soon. This news is being welcomed in Ramnagar and surrounding areas.
