In West Bengal and Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a victory with a majority exceeding two-thirds. The opposition had alleged that the price of domestic cylinders would rise once the election results were declared. However, the government-owned oil marketing companies—Indian Oil, HPCL, and BPCL—released the new LPG cylinder rates, confirming that there has been absolutely no change in prices in West Bengal.

Central Government Issues Significant Statement

Due to rising tensions in the Middle East, the likelihood of an increase in domestic LPG cylinder rates in India has been steadily gaining ground. However, providing significant relief to the public, the Central Government has stated that, for the time being, there will be no changes to the prices of petrol, diesel, or domestic LPG cylinders in the country.

The Ministry of Petroleum has clarified that there are no instances of petrol pumps running dry anywhere in the country. Online bookings for LPG refills are currently being recorded at an all-time high. Furthermore, the LPG delivery certification rate stands at an impressive 94 per cent. The Ministry assured the public that, despite any potential disruptions to trade, there would be no adverse financial impact on the common citizen.

5-kg Cylinders Set a New Record

According to the Central Government, 10 per cent coverage has now been achieved for 5-kg domestic LPG cylinders. In a single month alone, 2.3 million (23 lakh) such cylinders were sold. Additionally, following the organisation of over 10,000 awareness camps, an extra 176,000 cylinders were sold.
