From North India to various other parts of the country, the Rabi crop—of which wheat is a key variety—is a vital resource upon which farmers currently depend. Now, a looming meteorological threat hangs over these crops, causing mounting anxiety among farmers. The weather pattern is expected to shift once again, potentially leading to rain accompanied by thunderstorms and hailstorms across various regions.

Due to the influence of a Western Disturbance, there remains a risk of heavy rainfall across nine states. In Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the Delhi-NCR region, the impending rains could bring daily life to a standstill. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), warnings for heavy rainfall have been issued for several states across the country. Rainfall Warnings for These States

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility that weather conditions in the national capital will deteriorate significantly by April 8. According to the IMD, the weather is expected to remain relatively clear on April 6. Temperatures in the region are projected to reach between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius. Subsequently, on April 7 and 8, there is a forecast for partly cloudy skies and a likelihood of rain. This could result in substantial financial losses for farmers. The IMD has advised the public to exercise caution during this period of adverse weather and to avoid stepping out of their homes unnecessarily.

Weather in UP and Bihar

The Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of rain across various regions of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. A weather alert predicting heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued for Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Firozabad, Mahoba, Jhansi, Jalaun, Mahamayanagar, Hamirpur, Hardoi, and Kanpur. Regarding Bihar, warnings for moderate to heavy rainfall have been issued for Patna, West Champaran, East Champaran, Bhojpur, Gaya, Rohtas, Kaimur, and Aurangabad.

Weather in Rajasthan

The Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of dust storms, rain, and hailstorms from April 6 to April 8. On April 6, light to moderate rain may occur at several places across the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions. A new and strong Western Disturbance is expected to become active starting April 6. Consequently, strong winds, rain, and isolated hailstorms may be witnessed in the Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Ajmer divisions, as well as the Shekhawati region. The impact of this system is expected to peak on April 7, when intense thunderstorm activity and spells of strong winds may persist across the Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions.

Weather in Himachal Pradesh

According to the Meteorological Department, hailstorms are expected in four to five districts of Himachal Pradesh on April 7 and 8. The IMD has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for Tuesday and Wednesday for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla, warning of hailstorms, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, and strong winds gusting at speeds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The possibility of rain persists until April 10.

Weather in Jammu & Kashmir

The Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy skies across various parts of Jammu & Kashmir on April 6 and 7. The IMD indicates that light rain and spells of snowfall may be witnessed at a few isolated places on April 8 and 9.

Heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods, landslides, and rockfalls in certain vulnerable areas. There is also a possibility of waterlogging in some low-lying areas. An alert has been issued for April 10 and 11, warning of brief spells of light rain or snowfall (in higher altitudes) at a few locations.

According to the Meteorological Department, a warning for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued for Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab. Rain is also expected in various parts of Uttarakhand. Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has also been forecast for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
