Charlie Kirk, CEO and founder of conservative youth group Turning Point USA, has been shot dead during an event. Charlie Kirk was a close friend of US President Donald Trump. He was shot dead during a debate event at Utah Valley University.

Donald Trump himself has informed about his death by posting on social media platforms. Trump has also issued instructions to lower all the national flags of the country to half-mast in honour of Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk was admitted to the hospital after being shot, but he was declared dead there. This is also being considered a setback for Trump.

According to the US official, a suspect in the shooting has been detained, whose identity has not been revealed yet. Information has come to light that Kirk was already being opposed in the event, but no one had realised this type of incident.

A senior official told the news agency Associated Press that Kirk was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. But his life could not be saved. An online petition asking the university administration to cancel his program had about 1,000 signatures. But last week, the university had clarified that the program cannot be cancelled. Because it is a matter related to the freedom of ‘free speech’ and ‘dialogue’ under the First Amendment.
