Significance of Sakat Chauth
According to religious beliefs, Goddess Parvati observed the Sakat Chauth fast for Lord Ganesha. It is said that mothers who observe this fast according to the prescribed rituals and customs have all the troubles of their children removed, and peace and happiness prevail in the family, along with receiving the special blessings of Lord Ganesha. Seeing the moon at night is mandatory during the Sakat Chauth fast; the fast is broken only after offering Arghya (water offering) to the moon.
