Oppo has officially sort of unveiled its next generation smartphone lineup at a big launch do in China, the Oppo Reno 16 series. It shows up with two models, the regular Oppo Reno 16 and the more premium Oppo Reno 16 Pro, and they’re really leaning into flagship-level portrait capturing, beefy silicon anode battery tech, and some deep AI productivity things.

At the same event, Oppo also brought out the “Oppo Bubble” magnetic accessory, plus the Enco Air 5s wireless earbuds, which basically makes its mid-range smart ecosystem feel refreshed for the summer. Both phones ship with Android 16 based ColorOS 16 straight away and they each get a dedicated physical AI hardware button too.

Oppo Reno 16 Series: Specifications and Features

The big headline feature in the Reno 16 series, is that huge bump in both camera tech and battery hardware. The regular Oppo Reno 16 comes with a fairly compact 6.32-inch 1.5K flat OLED screen, and it runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super processor. Even with its pretty slim build, it still manages to stuff in a massive 6,700mAh Glacier battery, supporting 80W wired charging. Meanwhile, the more premium Oppo Reno 16 Pro goes with a bigger 6.78-inch adaptive 120Hz OLED display and uses the flagship MediaTek chipset. The Pro model then also jumps battery capacity to a giant 7,000mAh, plus it includes 50W wireless charging on top of the 80W wired option.

For photo people, both phones show off a strong triple rear camera setup, anchored by a big 200MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization. It also adds a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, which brings 3.5x optical zoom. The Pro version takes it further by including a kind of micro-gimbal mechanism around the main camera, giving up to 5 degrees of real physical focal plane shift, for crazy steadier shots. On the front side, there’s a 50MP autofocus camera, meant for crisp selfies and 4K video recording.

The “Oppo Bubble” Magnetic Accessory & Design

During the launch event there was a pretty big surprise, when Oppo brought out the Oppo Bubble thing. It costs 499 Yuan, and it’s described as a ultra thin 7mm magnetic mini AMOLED screen add-on, that sort of snaps onto the back of the phone. It only weighs 27.5 grams, and then you can use that 200MP rear camera for high resolution selfies, plus you get wireless camera previews from as far as 10 meters away, which is honestly kind of wild.

Visually, the Reno 16 series now leans into a 3D floating planet inspired look, with a flat metal frame and a glass back. For the standard model, the color options are Midnight Black, Galaxy Purple, and there’s also a more specialized Heartbeat Star colorway. Meanwhile the Pro model swaps out the purple option for a more premium Dreamy Blue shade.

Pricing and Expected India Availability

Right now the Reno 16 series is being taken for pre-order in China, and the official open sale is planned for May 29, 2026. Oppo hasn’t said the exact global timing, at least not yet, but people in the industry who seem to know are saying the lineup should arrive in India by July 2026. And to make the whole thing more reachable for budget-minded buyers everywhere, there’s a good chance we’ll also see a baseline, more entry-level variant configuration show up alongside the higher tier models.
