Oppo A5 Pro 5G review: Oppo’s latest addition to its budget range, the A5 Pro 5G, claims to attract buyers in search of a fashion-forward and punchy everyday phone. But is it punchy enough to be your new best friend, or is it just another face in the crowd? Read on.

Design and Build: Chic but Stodgy
The Oppo A5 Pro is distinguished by the wafer-thin thickness of only 7.76mm, making the phone feel trim in the palm. But at 194g, it weighs too much to be a phone with a plastic back. The phone itself has a sturdy feel, with Gorilla Glass 7i and Xensation α protection on the front. A fingerprint sensor is embedded in the display, with a premium touch, especially at this level.
Display: Smooth But Low Resolution
You get a 6.67-inch LCD with a 120Hz screen that provides scrolling and animations with silky texture. But the screen only provides a resolution of 720 x 1604 pixels, and hence the pixel density is 264ppi. This fails to provide as sharp pictures as full HD+ displays provide. Even though the screen is capable of handling 83% DCI-P3 in Vivid mode and 100% sRGB in Natural mode, sharpness and color accuracy can be adjusted.
Camera: Good Enough in Daylight
The back dual camera is equipped with a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. Daylight shots are sufficient with good color reproduction and so-so detail. The 8MP front shooter is sufficient for selfies and video calls. Support for video recording is up to 1080p @ 60fps, which is greater than sufficient for average user consumption but not quite sufficient for creators.
Performance: Average for General Use
Driven by MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip, the phone provides standard day-to-day performance for tasks like social media, web browsing, and casual gaming. The phone supports Android 15 and comes with 8GB RAM and virtual RAM of an additional 8GB, so multitasking is a breeze. But without support for a memory card, 128GB internal storage is what you will have to deal with.
Connectivity and Audio: Modern, But No Jack
Oppo A5 Pro offers 4G, 5G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.3, and dual-band WiFi connectivity features. Oppo A5 Pro offers a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. Oppo A5 Pro lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM Radio. It is a glaring omission that a person who uses wired audio would be grieving to lose.
Battery Life and Charging: Trusted Performer
The 5800mAh battery is one of the top highlights, delivering great battery backup that can extend beyond a day with moderate usage. It is also compatible with 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging, enabling fast recharges when in a rush.
Verdict: A Powerful All-Rounder with Some Compromises
For ₹17,999, Oppo A5 Pro offers 5G, a thin body, good battery life, and a smooth 120Hz display. Low-res display and no expandable storage, and a headphone jack will be disappointing to some. Barring that from breaking deals with you, the A5 Pro is a good 2025 budget 5G contender.
