Weekend Box Office War:  Has the box office once again experienced a lull? After the meteoric rise of “Kantara Chapter 1,” it seemed that films would be a success, but now theaters are deserted! Once again, audiences are back home, and the ticket window is clouded with disappointment. Of the films released last Friday, only Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam Dhar’s “Haq” is making some money. Surprisingly, its collections saw a jump on Tuesday (the fifth day of its release). But what about the other films? They’re nowhere near the crore mark.

“Haq” wins hands down: This film, based on the Shah Bano case, grossed ₹1.75 crore on Tuesday, significantly higher than Monday’s ₹1.05 crore. Its net collection in five days has reached ₹11.75 crore. Made on a budget of ₹25 crore, it still needs to put in a lot of effort! (Source: Sacnilk data)

‘Jatadhara’ flops in 5 days: Sonakshi Sinha and Sudheer Babu’s ₹180 crore Telugu-Hindi film ‘Jatadhara’ has tanked in its first five days. Earning just ₹4.54 crore is nothing short of a shock for this massive budget! Prabhas’ fans have suffered a major setback! “Baahubali: An Epic,” a re-released film combining “Baahubali” and “Baahubali 2,” surprised everyone by earning ₹9.65 crore on its first day, but now it’s disappointing. Its earnings on the 12th day were just ₹19 lakh! It has only earned ₹32.89 crore in 12 days.  Now, the hope of breaking the record of ₹52.25 crore set by the re-release of “Tumbaad” has also been dashed.

Big films in bad shape: “Thama” and “The Taj Story” have failed.

“Thama” struggles: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s “Thama” (budget: ₹140 crore) is still behind its budget even after 22 days. It earned just ₹70 lakh on Tuesday. Its net collection so far is ₹132.15 crore. At the pace it is going, it doesn’t seem like it will be able to recover its cost.

“The Taj Story” is in a tight spot: Paresh Rawal’s controversial film “The Taj Story” is also in a bad shape. Made with a budget of ₹25 crore, this film earned only ₹17 lakh on its 12th day. The total collection is ₹16.37 crore.

The Only Superhit: ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’

In this gloomy environment, if any film has truly tasted success, it is Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’.  Made with a budget of ₹25 crore, this film has done more than three times the business!  It earned ₹75 lakh on Tuesday, more than ‘Thama’ (₹70 lakh). Its net collection in 22 days is ₹76.20 crore. It is truly a box office smash!
