Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Passengers are eagerly awaiting the launch of India’s most high-tech sleeper train. New obstacles have now arisen in the path of this luxury train. The Railway Ministry has pointed out several flaws in its design, finishing, and furnishing, which could further delay the train’s launch date. The train will only be able to run on the tracks after some necessary improvements. Demand for the Vande Bharat train continues to grow among passengers.

Indian Railways is continuously expanding its network, focusing on connecting every corner of India with rail. Indian Railways is preparing to operate 200 Vande Bharat, 100 Amrit Bharat, and 50 Namo Bharat Rapid trains across the country in the next 2-3 years. This expansion will focus on areas where rail is not fully accessible. Assam has also requested the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for rail expansion. It is being reported that the Railways may introduce new trains for Assam. Assam has asked for four new Amrit Bharat trains.

When did the Vande Bharat sleeper train begin?

According to a PTI report, the Railway Board recently raised serious concerns about the train’s workmanship and furnishings in a letter sent to the Research Design and Standards Organisation and all zonal general managers. The ministry stated that the berth area has sharp edges in many places, and that cleaning areas such as window-curtain handles and the pigeon pockets between the berth connectors may be difficult.

The Railway Board has stated that these deficiencies should be rectified immediately on the existing trains and that improvements should be made to the design of future trains. The ministry also noted that all safety regulations must be strictly followed before the train can operate.

Suspense continues over launch date.
The Railways has given in-principle approval to operate the 16-coach Vande Bharat sleeper rake, but the train will not operate until all defects are rectified. The Railways has not officially announced a potential launch date.

What will be the facilities?
Each coach of this train is fully air-conditioned, with wide bunk beds, comfortable staircases, modern interiors, and advanced safety features. Features include dedicated toilets for disabled passengers, automatic inter-coach doors, Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, sensor-based lighting, and digital information panels.

The train will also be equipped with India’s indigenous Kavach collision-avoidance system. Its design is based on the same aerodynamic EMU platform as the existing Vande Bharat trains. Its maximum speed will be 180 km/h, and its service speed will be 160 km/h.
