New Delhi: Another major chapter is about to be added to the modern and high-tech services of Indian Railways. It’s a chapter that millions of countrymen have been eagerly awaiting. The country is set to get its first Vande Bharat sleeper train, and the launch date has also been announced. The first Vande Bharat sleeper train will be flagged off from Malda in West Bengal on January 17th.
This will further expand the Indian railway network. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will be present at Malda station to flag it off. These will be golden moments for the people of the country, which everyone has been waiting for for a long time.

With the West Bengal assembly elections due in four months, this gift from the central government will prove to be very beneficial for the people. The travel time for long journeys will be significantly reduced. The interior of the sleeper express will be just like that of an aeroplane.
What will be the speed of the Vande Bharat Sleeper?
The speed of the Vande Bharat sleeper train, which is starting from West Bengal, will be quite remarkable. During its final trials, the Vande Bharat sleeper express achieved a maximum speed of 180 km/h. However, on the Howrah and Guwahati route, its speed will be reduced to 120 to 130 kilometres per hour.

The coach configuration includes 11 three-tier AC coaches, four two-tier AC coaches, and one first AC coach. According to the Ministry of Railways, out of 823 berths, 611 are reserved for 3AC, 188 for 2AC, and 24 for 1AC. The fare for this new service has been made very affordable for the middle class.
The Railway Minister stated that the fare for 3rd-AC in the Vande Bharat sleeper will be approximately Rs. 2,300, for 2nd-AC approximately Rs. 3,000, and for 1st-AC approximately Rs. 3,600. This fare will include both travel and food expenses. The fare has been decided keeping the middle class in mind.

Some features of the Vande Bharat sleeper will be very special. The train is ergonomically designed, featuring automatic doors with vestibules, excellent suspension for a smooth ride, and noise reduction technology. Safety during long journeys is ensured by an automatic train protection system and an emergency talk-back system.
